The Own Your Future campaign aims to empower students to take control of their education and to pursue a path of success and achievement. By providing resources to students who want to be in charge of their futures, MCCOY supports the advancement and progress of Marion County’s youth. The Own Your Future campaign hopes to increase awareness about the importance of graduating from high school, since a strong education is an essential tool for advancement and future opportunities. By finishing high school, students who own their future can take an important step in reaching their full potential as empowered individuals, valuable community members, and contributing citizens.
Resources for Students:Student Leadership Opportunities
Youth Advocacy Council- serve as a “youth voice” on behalf of youth issues and become a leader in creating new ideas and programs to support youth in Marion County
Academic Support Services
Reach for Youth- support youth through prevention, intervention, counseling, and youth development
Learn More Indiana- vast resources and programs to prepare you for college and careers
La Plaza- Tu Futuro- educational program dedicated to encouraging and supporting Latino youth and non-traditional students to pursue education through presentations, workshops, consultations, and college visits
Edna Martin Christian Center- tutoring and mentoring services, after-school programs, summer camps, community service opportunities, etc
Options for Credit Recovery, GED Services, Alternative High Schools
The Excel Center- serves people over age 18 who want to earn a diploma (flexible scheduling)
Basic Prep Academy- alternative education; credit recovery options and diploma completion
Indy Met High School- public high school; self-paced learning
Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center GED preparation- GED training and Adult Basic Education Classes
Indiana Online Academy- virtual high school that provides an alternative means to earn high school credits

Volunteering opportunities for Youth in Indianapolis
Stopover Inc Transitional Living Program for youth who are transitioning to independent living
Future Promises- help for pregnant and parenting teens
Outreach, Inc. - G.O.A.L- assistance for homeless youth; tutoring, transportation to school, textbooks, etc
Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence
Just Ask - a book for teens created by the Indiana Coalition for Adolescent Health & IN State Department of Health
Camptown- Camptown's mission is to challenge, mentor and teach youth about life through outdoor adventure and nature programs that help build confidence, character, and hope
Planned Parenthood- these centers provide services for women that include Pap-tests, cancer screenings, sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing, and a variety of birth control options. The HPV vaccine, Gardasil is currently available at several health center locations. Services for men include STI testing and self exam instruction. Everyone--teens, women and men of all age ranges are welcome to seek care at one of the health centers! All of the services are confidential.
