Many children in Indianapolis face one or more issues that increase their risk of abuse, neglect, or delinquency. Research shows that early intervention services—which help children and families to address problems before they become crises—can make the critical difference to young people and families at risk.

Because it works!

Especially in these troubled times, many children and families in Indianapolis are struggling with issues like poverty, substance abuse, or mental and emotional illness. These obstacles are difficult to overcome alone and often lead to child abuse, neglect, or delinquency, especially when several risk factors are in play at once.

By making a strategic and collaborative effort to coordinate all of the local services that are available to help families with their problems earlier and more comprehensively, we can:

• Reduce the need for child welfare and juvenile justice system involvement
• Improve health, safety, and academic outcomes for our children and families
• Make wiser use of limited resources and save taxpayers money on public services

Everyone has an important role to play.

With this as our guiding principle, MCCOY, Inc. is reaching out to public agencies, schools, community-based organizations, the faith community, and concerned citizens to inform them about the need for action and enlist their support as the Early Intervention and Prevention Initiative takes shape.
